We have just found out that there is no longer any hope for the twenty-nine miners in the Pike River Coal Mine disaster. Their families, friends and loved ones were informed today that there has been another, larger, explosion. It would not have been survivable. We cry for the children who will not see their fathers, the wives who have lost their husbands, the fathers who will never again embrace their sons, siblings that have lost brothers, mates that have lost mates. There are no words for this, but to say nothing would be unthinkable. There are so many questions, and right now, few answers. I offer this passage for the comfort of those who grieve, and for myself. I do not offer it out of presumption, or because there is any way to lighten their darkness, but in sincere faith. This is my unshakable belief.
Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed - in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
1 Corinthians 15:51-52
My thoughts and prayers are with all who are mourning.
